Yu Jun Mountain (与君山, Yǔ Jūn Shān) is a mountain region located in the north and where seventeen brides had gone missing due to the Ghost Bridegroom.[1]

Locations[]

  • Small Shop of Chance Encounter: A little tea shop located near the actual mountain. The storefront is described to be small and the shopkeepers rather simple. The owner is unnamed, but called Tea Master.[1]
  • Nan Yang Temple: As Ming Guang temples were burned down shortly after being built, the people of the mountain decided to start erecting Nan Yang temples and worship Feng Xin instead.[2] The small temple Xie Lian, Fu Yao and Nan Feng visit has a statue that Fu Yao describes to be deformed, bizarre and crude with tacky colours.[3]
  • Ming Guang Temple: Although all Ming Guang temples have been burned down, one remained hidden deep on the mountain. Xuan Ji used this temple to hide the seventeen brides that she kidnapped and murdered. It was presumably unable to be found due to the array that Hua Cheng ultimately crushed.[4]

History[]

As the mountain is located in the north it is part of Pei Ming's territory. However, at some point all Ming Guang temples were burned down by Xuan Ji due to all the women visiting to pray.[5] The same fate would fall upon any new built temple following, thus the mountain residents began to build Nan Yang temples and worship Feng Xin.[2]

Around a hundred years ago, there was a couple deeply in love and who wanted to get married, but on the day of the wedding the bride suddenly vanished. In the end they concluded she must have run off, yet soon another bride would go missing.[1] In the span of that century a total of seventeen brides had gone missing and the legend of a Ghost Bridegroom who would take brides he took a liking in quickly spread. The Heavenly Officials originally didn't plan to investigate this matter as too little brides had been kidnapped and bigger issues were at hand, but the seventeenth bride was the daughter of a lord official. After his daughter was taken even with tight security, he organized big religious services until the Heavens eventually took notice.[3]

Xie Lian was tasked to investigate the seventeen missing brides in the region in place of Jun Wu and was accompanied by Nan Feng and Fu Yao.[1]
