Three Clowns, Night Discussion on the Palace of Tremendous Masculinity (三活宝夜谈巨阳殿, Sān Huóbǎo Yè Tán Jù Yáng Diàn) is the 4th chapter of the Heaven Official's Blessing novel.
Summary[]
The chapter continues with Xie Lian telling the legend of Yu Jun Mountain.
In total, 17 brides have gone missing in the span of hundred years. Due to a huge majority of brides all over the world marrying safely, the Heavenly Courts never actually took notice of this case. However, the father of the 17th bride was an important official and caused an uproar until Heavenly Officials finally agreed to investigate this case.
It's noted that there is no pattern or preference for the Ghost Bridegroom, which is the name given to the person who is kidnapping the brides. They conclude that it's very much possible that it could also be a woman.
Xie Lian, Fu Yao and Nan Feng then search for a place for the night. They ask a local Earth God, who directs them towards a Nan Yang Temple nearby. Once they enter, they notice how inaccurate and unpleasing the statue of Feng Xin is. Fu Yao points out all the flaws, which annoys Nan Feng.
At that moment, a girl called Xiao-Ying enters the temple. Xie Lian tries to ask why so many of Feng Xin's believers were women, as it was unusual for Martial Gods to have many female believers. Only he had been an exception because he was very handsome and his temples used to be friendly, often filled with flowers. However, he doesn't receive an answer yet.
When they finally see her face properly, they remark how ugly she is. She begins to pray, asking that the Ghost Bridegroom is captured very soon. She is completely oblivious to a big hole in her skirt that had probably been cut on purpose and thus, Xie Lian tries to subtly help her by letting his robe fly to land on her, but she still doesn't become aware of her ripped clothes and places the robe on the statue.
She turns to leave, but Xie Lian becomes visible and follows her with the robe in hand. Since his upper body is bare, she thinks she's about to be harassed when Xie Lian reaches out to her and slaps him. He quietly tells her that her skirt is ripped and she quickly rushes out of the temple with the robe.
Nan Feng asks him if his wounds opened, noticing the bandages wrapped around his upper body and neck, plus a lot of tiny injuries all over his body. Fu Yao asks who he fought against, but Xie Lian says he fell by himself. The chapter ends with Xie Lian revealing the Cursed Shackle around his neck.
