The Ghost Takes a Bride, the Crown Prince Mounts the Bridal Sedan III (鬼娶亲太子上花轿, Guǐ Qǔqīn Tàizǐ Shàng Huājiào) is the 8th chapter of the Heaven Official's Blessing novel.
Summary[]
Xie Lian thinks about whether he should take the person's hand or not, but ultimately ends up doing so. They begin to walk together, Xie Lian going on to describe the man's demeanor and features, at least of what he's able to see from under the veil.
On the way wild wolves appear once again, but as soon as Xie Lian gets ready to fight, the man pats his hand as a sort of reassurance and the wolves begin to whimper and disappear.
As they walk further and Xie Lian tries to figure out what kind of person this is, he notices that they're approaching a skull, a corner of an array that could possibly launch an attack on them. He wants to warn the person, but before he could do so the other crushes the skull with his foot.
The man opens an umbrella before continuing to lead him. It seemingly begins to rain blood, which turns out to be the blood from the corpses hung up by Qi Rong. They stop walking at some point and the person begins to lift Xie Lian's veil. Xie Lian sends out Ruoye to render him immobile, but the other shatters into a thousand silver butterflies before it can reach him.
Xie Lian ends up at a Ming Guang Temple, a temple of the martial god of the North, Pei Ming. He goes in to investigate and finds the seventeen missing brides. They have already died, but still remain standing and smiling. Suddenly the door to the temple opens. Xie Lian quickly stands among the brides to hide himself, before he hears a clopping sound from the one that has come. He soon realizes the person, who is also the ghost bridegroom, is lifting all the veils. Knowing he will be discovered, he unleashes Ruoye again and hits them. Black fog fills the room, but Xie Lian tries to disperse it by having Ruoye make wind.
A small shadow runs out the front door. Xie Lian chases after it, but finds the group they met down the mountain outside. Fu Yao and Nan Feng soon join them, reporting that they haven't run into anything on the way. Xie Lian sends Fu Yao to search the mountain and concludes that if he doesn't find anything, the ghost bridegroom must be among them. They begin to inspect the group already, without success however. It turns out Xiao-Ying has also come up the mountain.
Fu Yao returns from his search, stating the ghost bridegroom is not in the vicinity, thus they must be within the crowd.
