The Crown Prince's Bizarre Memory Loss Adventures IV (太子殿下的奇妙记忆漂流, Tàizǐ Diànxià De Qímiào Jìyì Piāoliú) is the 249th chapter of the Heaven Official's Blessing novel.

Summary[]

Xie Lian swiftly makes his way to the domain of the creature, easily taking down any enemies along his path. Overhearing its lackeys, Xie Lian learns that this creature "shan-zu" is a famous centuries-old monster that had been defeated by a rogue cultivator. However, it had managed to get a few “bites” from the cultivator by taking advantage of an injury the cultivator was already sporting. After having fled the fight, the creature took refuge in this mountain and summoned a multitude of minions to guard him.

Upon reaching the creature, Xie Lian finds it wailing and rolling around the ground, he tries to ask the creatures questions but it doesn’t answer due to too much pain. Xie Lian captures it with a talisman. He goes back to the city to meet San Lang to show the captured creature. While taking a rest in the stall, he overhears someone call out his full name but then realizes the person is talking about a statue of "Xie Lian". He listens as this person converses with another, speaking of how this statue of "Xie Lian" needs to be placed alongside another statue to avoid misfortune.

The statue itself is a plain looking cultivator dressed in white with a straw hat. When Xie Lian asks, the men confirm that this statuette is of the Xianle crown prince, Xie Lian, the “scrap-picking immortal”. Vexed by this derogatory title, Xie Lian unhappily inquires of the men if they are dissatisfied with the Xianle royal family to be insulting them like this. The men reply that the Xianle country was destroyed more than eight hundred years ago.

An hour later, Xie Lian walks down the street in a muddle having learned of Xianle’s and his own downfall and he tries to deny it. As his mind wraps around the information, his pace becomes frantic until he is running. San Lang appears, he has been looking for Xie Lian and as he reaches out for his hand, Xie Lian yells at him to not come closer, demanding to know who he is. San Lang realizes that Xie Lian has discovered the truth that he’s been trying to hide from him and Xie Lian himself realizes that San Lang had deliberately kept him from finding out.

Xie Lian fears this strange world he finds himself in, where he has lost his status and loved ones. San Lang tells him not to be afraid. When Xie Lian hears this phrase from San Lang, he recognizes it, it's the same as the voice in his dreams. Thinking over how much this person has deceived him and toyed with him, Xie Lian is overcome with rage and strikes San Lang in the chest. He readies himself to strike San Lang a second time but finds his body refusing his command. San Lang grabs a hold of his hand and implores Xie Lian to believe him. Xie Lian refuses to do so, but the words fail to come out as well.

When Xie Lian looks into San Lang's eyes, he sees in them genuine pain and concern. San Lang draws him into an embrace while reassuring him and Xie Lian softens in his arms. Xie Lian reflects on his dreams and comes to realize that the voice in his dreams was always warm and gentle, and that there was no coercion involved. Xie Lian confirms with San Lang that they were in an intimate relationship. When Xie Lian inquires about his sudden memory loss, San lang informs him that, at the time, he'd hurriedly left to answer a prayer in the middle of the night before San Lang had a chance to help him restore his magic and warn him about the creature's ability to steal memories.

Having calmed down, Xie Lian still can't understand how he reached his current point, how he could have failed so badly. San Lang reassures him that he was not at fault nor did he fail, and that he will always have a believer in San Lang. He reveals to Xie Lian that he is Hua Cheng and that he had recognized Xie Lian from before he even ascended. Xie Lian brings out the budaoweng of the captured creature and, from its mouth, specks of light fly out. These are Xie Lian's memories and Xie Lian hesitates before reaching out to them, being reassured by Hua Cheng. When he regains consciousness, he expresses his happiness at meeting Hua Cheng again.

After a while, Xie Lian points out how Hua Cheng teased and toyed with his seventeen year-old self. Hua Cheng argues that he treated him with courtesy. Recalling the past few days, Xie Lian is overcome with embarrassment and he runs off while Hua Cheng calls out to him, admitting his fault.
