The Crown Prince's Bizarre Memory Loss Adventures II (太子殿下的奇妙记忆漂流, Tàizǐ Diànxià De Qímiào Jìyì Piāoliú) is the 247th chapter of the Heaven Official's Blessing novel.
Summary[]
Xie Lian is taken aback by how the man in red shamelessly sits at his table and presumptuously asks him to treat him to a drink. Xie Lian does not portray his unease and allows the man to do as he pleases. Conversing with him, he finds the man to be arrogant but isn't offended by his manner. Xie Lian introduces himself with the surname Hua, and the man replies his name is San Lang, but Xie Lian figures this isn't his true identity.
Xie Lian catches sight of a red coral bead in San Lang’s hair; it looks familiar but can’t pinpoint from where. San Lang notices his attention and his hand comes up to play with the bead in hair. Xie Lian inquires about the bead. San Lang says it’s a gift from his beloved wife and continues to play with it. Xie Lian is perturbed to find that San Lang’s fiddling with the bead seems excessively lewd. Uneasy, Xie Lian regrets allowing San Lang to sit with him.
At that moment, the song-girl finishes her shift and smiles thankfully towards Xie Lian before leaving. With no reason to remain in the teahouse, Xie Lian bids the man farewell and quickly leaves the teahouse. However, outside he realizes how lost he is without his money, possessions, attendants, weapons, or magic. He is also hungry, but what little money he’d possessed had been used to buy the tea at the teahouse, which he couldn’t bring himself to drink because he had been unable to tolerate the old tea stain in the cup.
Suddenly, Xie Lian finds a few pieces of gold and silver leaves along his path. Xie Lian asks passers-by if they dropped any money, but he is unable to find who it belonged to. He decides to borrow a little of the money and buys a mantou. Just as he’s about the bite into the mantou, a hand snatches it away from him. Xie Lian is shocked to find San Lang standing behind him with the mantou he’d just bought. When Xie Lian tries to retrieve it, San Lang dodges him, telling him not to eat it. He even takes a bite out of the mantou. Now Xie Lian could no longer eat it; having been brought up as a crown prince, he would never eat something another took a bite out of.
Thoroughly incensed, Xie Lian rushes San Lang and the two fight over the mantou. Amidst the scuffle, the pain that Xie Lian has been ignoring all day flares up from a momentary careless action and he collapses. San Lang catches a hold of him, extremely concerned. Xie Lian is both ashamed and frustrated when he realizes where it hurts and why it hurts. He knocks San Lang’s hand away and makes to flee, but San Lang doesn’t let him.
Despite Xie Lian’s protests, San Lang doesn’t let go and instead apologizes, trying to coax him with a drink or food but Xie Lian refuses. It only serves to make Xie Lian angrier and he demands to know why he’s bothering him. San Lang points out the cursed item on Xie Lian’s body- a white silk bandage wrapped around his wrist. Upon being pointed out, it slithers around and dives towards Xie Lian but San Lang catches it before it could touch him.
Xie Lian understands that San Lang had only approached him because of the cursed item. Thinking over his discourteous actions towards this man who had good intentions, Xie Lian is extremely embarrassed and thanks the man. The two bid farewell but as San Lang turns to walk away, Xie Lian unconsciously follows a few steps after him. San Lang laughs at his actions and invites Xie Lian to have a drink with him.
They return to the tavern from before and San Lang treats him to a hearty meal. Xie Lian eats to his heart's content and belatedly realizes his manners while San Lang only bites into the mantou they fought over earlier. Xie Lian turns his attention to the white silk and questions why it would be hiding on his body. It was held tight in San Lang’s grip yet it kept trying to swim towards him. San Lang replies that the object has bad habits and is in need of proper teaching.
From here the two flow into easy conversion, such that Xie Lian almost forgets his troubles. After a long while he remembers, and inquires about a person named Hua Cheng. He relays to San Lang the strange day he’s had since he woke up and how he thinks that this Hua Cheng seems to be important in terms of his situation. San Lang discloses that Hua Cheng is a madman and that he is a disciple of the Xianle crown prince. Xie Lian is aghast and queries how the crown prince could have a disciple as he has yet to achieve godhood. San Lang assures him that Hua Cheng fully believes the crown prince will ascend. Xie Lian then asks where he could meet Hua Cheng but San Lang is hesitant to provide information on his whereabouts and claims that he's a bad person.
Having relaxed in San Lang’s presence, Xie Lian no longer avoids looking directly at him. He now notices a thin red thread tied around his third finger. His mind flashes back to the messy images that had been invoked by the song-girl earlier and remembers, distinctly, two hands interlocked, where the one on top had this red thread tied to it.
