Yin Yu[]
Yin Yu and Quan Yizhen share a complicated relationship. They have known each other for a very long time, Yin Yu taking him under his wing and becoming his older disciple brother when Quan Yizhen was just a child. Due to Yin Yu being the person to take care of and defend him in front of others, Quan Yizhen grew extremely attached to Yin Yu. While Quan Yizhen fancies Yin Yu and seeks his attention, Yin Yu is rather apprehensive towards him in the present.
In his youth, Yin Yu seemed to genuinely want to help Quan Yizhen, but he quickly noticed how much trouble he was causing, and he ended up having to clear Quan Yizhen's name even when he didn't want to. Yin Yu reassured Quan Yizhen that he wasn't a burden, but secretly started to feel resentment towards him.
After Yin Yu was slowly losing his worshipers and status to Quan Yizhen, these feelings of hostility only strengthened. laying open his frustration with him. Quan Yizhen was taken aback by this, worrying he did something wrong. After it escalated into Quan Yizhen injuring the Heavenly Officials because of the Brocade Immortal, Yin Yu was driven so mad that he told him to go die.
Quan Yizhen came asking Ling Wen about Yin Yu's whereabouts every single day after the incident, being sure it was all just a misunderstanding. Since she couldn't help him, he asked less and less about Yin Yu, but never gave up on searching.[1] He still deeply admires and cares for Yin Yu despite what had happened, even beating up his own worshipers when they made fun of Yin Yu during a stage play.
Once they reunite, Quan Yizhen keeps chasing after Yin Yu despite the other's rejection. He also adresses Yin Yu as a senior disciple, despite them having parted for decades and that kind of relationship long outgrown.
Yin Yu states that he hates Quan Yizhen, but judging by his actions it is debatable whether he actually feels that way. He's seen saving and helping Quan Yizhen multiple times, at first hiding his identity because he didn't want to interact further. Yin Yu was willing to attack Jun Wu in order to help save Quan Yizhen and in the end, had to pay with his life because of it, leaving Quan Yizhen devastated.
It's unknown what kind of relationship they have after Yin Yu got revived.
Jian Yu[]
Jian Yu was a fellow disciple of Yin Yu who hated Quan Yizhen. Jian Yu had always complained about him to Yin Yu and was furious to see Quan Yizhen get so much praise and popularity to the point of intentionally giving him the Brocade Immortal, which led to the bloody incident of Quan Yizhen severely injuring Heavenly Officials and ultimately to Yin Yu's banishment.
Xie Lian[]
Xie Lian and Quan Yizhen are allies and are frequently seen helping each other out. At first, Quan Yizhen left gold bars at Xie Lian's shrine to thank him for interrupting the stage play at the Battle of the Lanterns. They later got to know each other and now share a friendly relationship with one another. Xie Lian is one of the few people who knows his past with Yin Yu, as Hua Cheng showed it to him at Tonglu Mountain.
