Summary[]
This chapter is the prologue, which roughly tells the story of Xie Lian. There is a short introduction about his nation and his merits - saving a child during Heavenly Ceremonial Procession, defeating a ghost on Yi Nian bridge and successfully ascending at the age of seventeen. Three years after he is banished, only to ascend soon again - this time it took only a while before he was banished again for challenging the Heavenly Emperor.
Everyone stayed vigilant, thinking that he will become a vengeful ghost and try to get revenge, but soon they discovered that he started living a secular life, collecting scraps for money, performing on the streets, singing and playing on instruments. Thus, he became the laughingstock of the three realms. In the meantime his two personal bodyguards, Mu Qing and Feng Xin became gods themselves, while everybody slowly forgot about the Crown Prince of Xianle. But he didn't let them forget for too long, for he ascended yet again.
