Mountain-Locked Ancient Temple, Forest of Hanging Corpses III (山锁古庙倒挂尸林, Shān Suǒ Gǔ Miào Dàoguà Shī Lín) is the 11th chapter of the Heaven Official's Blessing novel.
Summary[]
Xie Lian calls Xuan Ji by name, so she asks if he was sent by Pei Ming. When she finds out he wasn't, she becomes incredibly upset and tearful, claiming to have betrayed her country for him.
The two hear noises outside which turns out to be the group in the protective circle. The youngster has woken up and tries to drag the Bandaged child down the mountain for the bounty reward, but Xiao-Ying doesn't let him. Xuan Ji recognizes him as the one who touched her inappropriately, so she lunges at him and rips his skull out.
Xie Lian stops her from attacking others, but she manages to strangle him while continuing to scream for Pei Ming. He is about to summon Ruoye when Xiao-Ying comes charging at Xuan Ji with a branch to help him, but she's too weak and gets sent flying by Xuan Ji. Xie Lian immediately binds her with Ruoye before running over to Xiao-Ying.
Her injuries are too severe and he knows it's pointless to help. Xie Lian reassures her that he can take care of the bandaged child, which makes her happy. She tries to explain what she wanted despite being born unlucky, but dies before finishing the sentence. The bandaged child is distraught over her death, hugging her tightly.
A loud bell suddenly causes the brides and mortals to become unconscious. Nan Feng returns as well and confirms reinforcements have arrived. Martial officials enter the scene, with the one leading them being introduced as "General Pei", although it turns out he's not Pei Ming but a descendant of his that is also a deputy god in his palace.
General Pei Junior orders for Xuan Ji to be arrested and she is taken away while cursing Pei Ming. He explains to Xie Lian that she did offer up military information of her country to Pei Ming in the past, but the latter refused it. She also broke her legs on her own to bind herself to him and ultimately killed herself to make him feel remorse.
After they leave, the mortals slowly wake up. Xie Lian advises them not to commit such wrongdoings anymore and Nan Feng brings them down the mountain. Seeing the bandaged child kneeling next to Xiao-Ying, Xie Lian sits next to him. He notices that the child's head is bleeding and asks for him to take the bandages off. He is hesitant, but Xie Lian reassures him that he won't be scared, yet when he sees the boy's face, his blood runs cold.
