Man in Abyss Receives a Bamboo Hat in the Rain (渊中人得一雨中笠, Yuān Zhōngrén Dé Yīyǔ Zhōng Lì) is the 196th chapter of the Heaven Official's Blessing novel.
Summary[]
After White No-Face asks if Xie Lian is waiting for someone to pull out the sword, he says that it's none of his business. White No-Face laughs at his attitude, and then reminds Xie Lian he has until tomorrow at sunset to unleash the Human Face Disease or the curse will fall on him instead.
On the third day, Xie Lian still hasn't moved. Everyone ignores him and won't dare to help, not even to hand him a cup of water. The rain pours on Xie Lian's unmoving figure when White No-Face appears again to remind him that sunset is about to come.
White No-Face explains that they think Xie Lian is the God of Misfortune. He made rain for Yong'an before his banishment, but now they won't even give him water. When Xie Lian was stabbed, it was done out of desperation, but now they have a choice and yet they find it too difficult. White No-Face finally tells him that no one will save him, pulls out the sword from Xie Lian's stomach and vanishes.
Suddenly, a farmer falls down heavily next to him. His white rice and bamboo hat fall onto the muddy ground. He harshly cusses at Xie Lian for blocking the road. He demands to be paid back, but Xie Lian doesn't react at all, so he leaves. The sun has almost settled, and the souls trapped inside the sword are wailing loudly.
Unexpectedly, the farmer comes back moments later and puts his bamboo hat on Xie Lian to shield him from the rain. He apologizes to Xie Lian and says he doesn't have to pay him back. The man pulls Xie Lian up and urges him to go home before vanishing.
White No-Face reappears in front of him, and asks what Xie Lian is doing. He tells White No-Face to go screw himself, which angers the latter. Xie Lian kicks him meters away, and by now he's crying from the kind gesture from the farmer.
