It was shown that despite Fang Xin's betrayal, Lang Qianqiu still grew up believing Fan Xin's teaching about righteousness and justice.

Lang Qianqiu considered An Le to be one of his most trusted friends, but their close relationship was merely a fake play by An Le to make it easier for the Xianle people to infiltrate the royal system and plan their rebellion. Lang Qianqiu only discovered this, as well as the fact that he was part of the revolt, long after An Le's death. He seemed to be in denial at first, but was filled with anguish after realizing that his beloved friend had conspired against him.

He became obsessed with the idea of revenge, actively searching and chasing after Qi Rong and his ashes to fulfill his vengeance and pay respect to the lost lives of his mother and father.
