This Style Guide is an official guide on how all the Heaven Officials Blessing Wiki articles should appear. In order to not restrict editors to a specific style, this guide is intended to make the wiki consistent, clear, and precise and to help editors with language, layout, and formatting.

Additional Guidelines:

General[]

  • Only canon information confirmed by the novel, manhua, animation or the author is permitted. Fandom-related content is not permitted unless it originates from an official source (e.g., results of character popularity polls).
  • Make sure the information you are adding is categorized according to its origin (novel, comic or animation).
  • Correct spelling and grammar is to be used on the articles.
  • Avoid making many small and consecutive edits on an article. Editing errors is understandable. Making edits to boost achievement points is not okay.
    • Try to combine multiple edits into one save per page section where possible.
    • Use the "Preview" button before saving the edit to ensure everything is the way it should be.
  • Foreign words and phrases should always be italicized.
  • Indicate changes in the edit summaries and use the Minor Edit Button for typo fixes and other minor formatting changes.
  • Use the Talk page to dispute and discuss any major changes or contentions you may have, but keep the conversation civil.
  • Use neutral language when editing articles. Do not use value judgements, such as "bad" versus "good," "immoral" versus "moral," unless you are describing something said about that character in the novel or other media. The Wikia's job is to convey the facts given by the novel and other media; not to judge a character, situation, or other matter.
  • Do not change the templates and formatting on articles without notifying and discussing it with an admin first.
  • Do not edit the article name without consulting an admin; doing so is likely to break all links leading to that article.

Styles & Standards[]

Unless otherwise stated, all content in the Wikia will follow the standard set of spellings and conventions detailed below for internal consistency. Most names, locations, and items will adhere to the translation by Sakhyulations and Suika & Rynn with a few stylization exceptions. Do not change these on your own volition.

Hanzi & Pinyin[]

Main article: Heaven Official's Blessing Wiki:Romanization

All names and terms are to follow the official romanization system for Standard Chinese, also known as Hanyu Pinyin Romanization, as set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Diacritics should only be used in pinyin accompanying hanzi such as (谢怜, Xiè Lián). When pinyin directly accompanies the hanzi within parentheses, it should be italicized.

Perspective and tense[]

  • All articles are written in third person.
  • Articles should be written from a neutral point of view. This means the article should be informative, unbiased, and factual rather than speculative and should not include personal opinion.
  • Use present tense within articles when describing appearance, personality and current events regardless of whether a character is dead or alive (especially since death is not always final).

Special formatting[]

  • To help avoid confusion, the novel is canon unless or until the series directly contradicts it. The differences can then be noted on the corresponding series and/or novel pages.
  • Titles of pages should be in bold (i.e. Xie Lian).
  • The novel name should be written in italics (i.e. Heaven Official's Blessing).
  • To reduce page volume and the need to edit multiple locations, duplicate/redundant information should be linked via {{Main|Page Name}} to the original page with a brief summary.
  • Proper nouns are capitalized (i.e. Puqi Shrine, Cave of Ten Thousand Gods).
    • Common nouns not used as titles should not be capitalized.

Linking[]

  • Avoid linking to the current page.
    • Captions on pictures are excluded.
    • Quotes sections on Character articles are excluded.
  • To prevent over-linking, link something only once per section of the article.

Referencing[]

  • Spoilers from confirmed sources (i.e. writers, producers, actors, network) can be used on article pages as long as they are properly referenced.
    • Unsanctioned spoilers and spoilers from unofficial sources belong on the forums or a blog post, not on article pages.
  • Please try to properly cite references. If you do not know how to create a reference link, please leave the relevant chapter or episode in parentheses next to the text so someone can reformat it.
    • Example reference: <ref name="ch26">Novel, Book 1, Chapter 26: Dallying HuaLian; Night-Fall in Sinner's Pit lll</ref>
  • References must be from a valid source (not a personal blog on tumblr or a spoiler speculation site).
