Gilded Figure; Exertion to Block Celestial Ruin (镀金身鼎力挽天颓, "Dùjīn Shēn Dǐnglì Wǎn Tiān Tuí") is the 87th chapter of the Heaven Official's Blessing novel.
Summary[]
Xie Lian is outraged and chops White No-Face's head off. Turns out it's only a empty shell, however Xie Lian keeps stabbing it to vent his anger. Feng Xin tells him to stop and reassures him it's only a fake body. Xie Lian then tells them White No-Face told him how to inflict the Human Face Disease. The three return to his crown prince bedchambers.
Xie Lian finally explains the grown faces are all the dead souls of Yong'an, the majority of them died from drought. White No-Face had explained the Yong'an people have a strong hatred against the Xianle capital because their family also died because of them. The spirits were taught they all perished because of them, thus they infected Xianle citizens. Lang Ying's buried son is the source of the curse. Xie Lian is confused to why White No-Face explained to him the process of the curse and not the cure.
Mu Qing says the white clothed being in fact did tell him a way how to lift the curse. That is to curse back at Yong'an, this would be easy because Xianle has hatred for Yong'an as well. Xie Lian is against the idea, Mu Qing then cuts in to say infecting the civilians is fine. That way they can threaten the soldiers to back off, however Xie Lian says he doesn't want to be despicable by killing innocents. Mu Qing replies that those "innocents" led him to the Land of the Tender trap. Xie Lian says the method is similar to a double edge sword, the two sides involved could get hurt equally. Mu Qing harshly says Xianle will perish by then if he keeps this up, he then adds he's running out of time and there is no third path. Xie Lian says he'll think about it, Mu Qing replies he's really annoying by being indecisive.
Feng Xin shouts at Mu Qing by asking what irritates him so much and why does he act much more smarter than Xie Lian. Mu Qing pales while Feng Xin is still screaming at him. Xie Lian finally stops them from arguing. Suddenly, a earthquake appears. Xie Lian tells them to save the people, at the same time Qi Rong appears from under the bed. Xie Lian grabs him arm without thinking and runs. He goes out and sees the Celestial Pagoda is about to collapse. Xie Lian summons his golden statue and uses it to hold the building.
