Ghost Scent Candy (鬼味糖, Guǐ Wèi Táng) is a small, black, shiny candy that when chewed, releases a mouthful of essence of evil.[1]
Description[]
It can be bought in Ghost City, although Hua Cheng states that the production of it is rather shady and it is made of vulgar, puny ghosts. Their essence flows from inside out of the one who eats it and is thus very useful when being disguised as a ghost.[1]
It is unclear how, but eating this candy will damage the body. It also carries a disgusting, sweet scent which only ghosts can smell and causes them to take distance from whoever has eaten it.[1] This scent also seems to linger for quite a while.[2]
Use[]
Pei Ming had eaten ghost scent candies to blend in with the ghosts at Tonglu Mountain. The candy is so effective that a talisman left an ashen mark on his forehead, falsely proving that he is a ghost despite being a god.[3][1] He later tries to help two female ghosts and embraces them, but they run away cursing when they smell the rancid scent.[1]
When Pei Ming meets Ban Yue, she also notices the smell and immediately hides behind Xie Lian when Pei Ming approaches her.[2]
