Deathly Spirit Butterflies (死灵蝶, Sǐ Líng Dié) are silver, translucent butterflies Hua Cheng often uses in battle.
Description[]
The butterflies are said to be exceedingly beautiful, looking pure and limpid. Their appearance is so sparkly and glittering that when flying, they even leave around bright traces in the air.[1]
Abilities:[]
- Strength: They are able to deal a lot of general damage when attacking someone.[2]
- Illumination: They can be used to illuminate surroundings due to their glowing appearance.
- Healing: They have healing powers as well, shown when a silver butterfly healed Xie Lian’s frost bites.[3]
- Illusion Indicator: They are able to detect whether something is an illusion or not.
- Spying: Hua Cheng is able to attach these butterflies to someone without them noticing, which allows him to hear what they're hearing. However, the other person can't hear him.[4]
- Recording: The butterflies are able to record voices and what is recorded can be rearranged to Hua Cheng's desire, which makes it possible for him to create made up statements out of fractions of other sentences.[4]
- Transport: The butterflies are strong enough to lift and transport several people through the air.[5]
- Dispersing: Hua Cheng also has the ability to disperse into a swarm of these butterflies and disappear.[6]
Weaknesses:[]
- Heat: Although powerful, the silver butterflies cannot withstand extreme heat or fire, confirmed when one of them dissipated as it approached a waterfall-like lava stream.[7]
History[]
Ghost Bridegroom[]
One of Hua Cheng's butterflies flies by the teahouse that Xie Lian visits. It lands on his finger for a bit, but it quickly leaves when Nan Feng and Fu Yao arrive.[1]
They get used again when Hua Cheng escapes from Xie Lian’s hold by shattering into thousands of butterflies in front of a Ming Guang temple.[6]
