Clothes Redder than Maple, Skin White as Snow IV (衣红胜枫肤白若雪, Yī Hóng Shèng Fēng Fū Báiruòxuě) is the 16th chapter of the Heaven Official's Blessing novel.
Summary[]
Xie Lian and San Lang arrive at Puqi Shrine and decide to share a straw mattress for the night. Xie Lian tells him he will paint a portrait of the Crown Prince of Xianle the following day after San Lang questions why the shrine has no statue. San Lang offers his help, but Xie Lian doubts he knows the god. To his surprise, San Lang does indeed know him.
When Xie Lian takes off his outer robes, San Lang notices the Cursed Shackle on his ankle. He doesn't say anything and simply turns around. Both head to sleep for the night.
The next morning Xie Lian wakes up to find a beautifully painted protrait of the Crown Prince of Xianle above the altar. He finds San Lang outside, confirming that it was painted by him. Xie Lian praises his skills and offers to help with his crooked ponytail. He examines San Lang's hair as the hair on fake bodies was often flawed, but he doesn't find anything. After Xie Lian ties the ponytail, it still ends up crooked.
Suddenly villagers arrive at the shrine, offering goods and asking what blessings he grants. The ox cart drivers seems to have spread the word about what happened the previous night, thus many villagers came by. They speak some prayers and offer incense, overwhelming Xie Lian who has to explain that he doesn't grant wealth, marriage or pregnancies.
After the crowd disperses, Xie Lian puts up a new curtain at the front entrance with a seal to ward off evil on it. He notices that San Lang is staring at it fixed in place, wondering if the seal is possibly restraining him.
