Summary[]
Xie Lian asks if he can see Hua Cheng's true form, but quickly says to not take it too seriously. Hua Cheng promises to show him one day in the future. The two head to bed, but can't sleep, so they talk some more. Xie Lian asks some questions about the ghost realm, including whether Hua Cheng has met Qi Rong. Hua Cheng thinks he's an eyesore and that even He Xuan despises him. Xie Lian asks if he's close with He Xuan, but turns out they're not.
Hua Cheng suddenly brings up Xie Lian's phrase about wanting to save the common people, thinking it's a good sentence. Xie Lian is embarrassed, but Hua Cheng admires the bravery of it. Xie Lian admits that he's said even sillier things in the past and tells the story of how, many years ago, a child once told him he wanted to die. He responded by telling the child to use him as a reason to live, although now he doesn't know how he had the courage to say something like that.
