Summary[]
Xie Lian explains that he found out San Lang's true identity of Hua Cheng due to his flawless appearance, knowledgable way of speech and red clothes. After he lights and places the candle, the pickle jar that Ban Yue is in starts shaking and rolling outside. Xie Lian sits next to her under the night sky.
She asks what will happen to Pei Xiu and while Xie Lian isn't sure, he thinks Pei Xiu must be punished for what he's done. Ban Yue explains that he's not so bad and that opening the gates was her own doing. She apologizes to Xie Lian, repeating a phrase he once said: "I want to save the common people!". Xie Lian is embarrassed by being reminded of saying such a thing, but Ban Yue says she also wanted to save the common people like him, yet ended up destroying the nation instead.
