Summary[]
This chapter starts a few minutes after Xie Lian ascended. He stares in surprise at the broken golden bell, which fell down. Ling Wen breaks him from his reverie, congratulating him on being the most anticipated official to be banished to the mortal realm in the past sixty years and informing the embarrassed Xie Lian that the ranking was created especially for him. Then she tells him, that the bell which fell when he ascended nearly crashed into Mu Qing, but he can easily make for everything he destroyed by paying 8,88 million merits. Since he's poor, he tries to think of an alternative, but Ling Wen tells him not to worry because she already has a task for him. Apparently people have been praying to Jun Wu for help with a "Ghost Groom", but since the Emperor is busy, the matter fell to Xie Lian.
They connect to the Spiritual Communication Array to ask if any of the gods can spare two of their officials to help "the Emperor in the North". Mu Qing quickly says that the Emperor isn't in the North and that the help is in reality for the Crown Prince. Feng Xin quickly barges into the conversation to ask who destroyed his golden pavilion and Mu Qing quickly start bickering with him. Embarrassed Xie Lian stops them and pleads guilty. The communication array falls silent, so he decides to go alone. They bid each other farewell.
