Butcher Zhu (朱屠夫, Zhū Túfū) is a boar butcher that resides in Ghost City and sells human meat at the market.[1]
Appearance[]
Butcher Zhu is a boar with black, thick hair, wearing a butcher's apron.[1]
Personality[]
He's a belligerent ghost, aggressive towards strangers and even those he knows if they say something he deems as insulting.[1] The only exception to this is Hua Cheng who he respects greatly and later Xie Lian as well. He even performs acts of help and kindness for the two.[2]
History[]
He's a resident of Ghost City, where he owns a butcher stall and sells human meat.[1]
When Xie Lian goes to visit the market he sees Butcher Zhu butchering a human leg. Since a pig butchering a human was a curious sight, Xie Lian looks at him several times, but Butcher Zhu tells him to go away if he doesn't buy anything. He later overhears Lan Chang calling Xie Lian a pig, which provokes Butcher Zhu. The two start to quarrel on the street, catching the attention of the surrounding people.[1]
Butcher Zhu is part of the ghost crowd that discovers Hua Cheng and Xie Lian together at the shore in Ghost City. Since Hua Cheng is holding onto Xie Lian who tries to get away, the group thinks he wants to sexually assault Xie Lian and offer to help him, but they immediately leave after Hua Cheng tells the crowd to scram.[3]
Along with lots of other ghosts, he follows Hua Cheng and Xie Lian when they later wander through Ghost City together. Once the two settle down at a shop, Butcher Zhu offers them one of the human legs to eat, but the other ghosts vividly complain about his action. Although the crowd calls it disgusting, he tries to convince them of the flesh's quality.[4]
During the escalation in the royal capital, the residents of Ghost City come to aid with fighting against the Corpse-Eating Rats, including Butcher Zhu.[2]
Butcher Zhu is also the one to prepare the pork for the soup given out at the reopening of Puqi Shrine.[5]
