The Brocade Immortal (锦衣仙, Jǐnyī Xiān) is a ghost robe that was originally a mortal named Bai Jing.

Appearance

Its original appearance is a white, sleeve- and headless gunny sack like robe soaked in blood,, but it is able to take at least 1000 different appearances. For example, when Quan Yizhen wore it looked like armor, when Lang Ying wore it looked like an ordinary outer robe. Later, when Ling Wen wears the robe, it becomes invisible but a black, shimmering aura surrounds her.

Everyone will see the Brocade Immortal as the appearance it takes on, except its creator, Ling Wen, who will always see its original form.

Legend

Many centuries ago, there was a man who was very foolish and dumb by nature, but extremely skilled in battle. He helped his country win a war, but because he was a fool and had no family, the money he made was taken from him, leaving him broke. No woman was interested in him, which originally didn't bother him, but at one point he fell deeply in love with someone.

That woman gifted him an ugly and poorly made robe, which he gladly took as it was the first present a woman had given him. After he put it on, he wondered why it was sleeveless. The woman explained that she wasn't very good at sewing, but it wouldn't be a problem if he didn't have arms. Thus, he cut off his own arms for her. He continued to wonder why he couldn't stretch out his legs in the robe. After the woman told him it wouldn't be a problem if he didn't have legs, he asked someone to cut those off as well. He asked why he couldn't poke out his head through the robe and the woman once again told him it wouldn't be an issue if he didn't have one. Thus, he asked her to decapitate him.

Soaked in the blood of the young warrior in love, the remaining robe was forged into an extremely malicious and powerful weapon, the Brocade Immortal.

History

In actuality, the entire truth about what occured remains unknown, but it is later revealed that Ling Wen was indeed responsible for Bai Jing's death and that the Brocade Immortal is in fact the ashes of Bai Jing which were given to her willingly. From the conversation Ling Wen and Xie Lian have when she was released from prison it is heavily implied that Ling Wen did not forge the Brocade Immortal as the savage device it is today but that it was originally an item for her protection and only turned so cruel later on.

Abilities

• Command: Whoever wears the robe will be forced to obey the command of the one who gave them the robe. Proven by Quan Yizhen, the person who wears the robe has no comprehension of what's happening around them when following orders and seemingly no memory after coming back to their senses either.
• Blood-Sucking: It's able to completely suck the blood out of whoever wears it.
• Madness: Some people who wore the Brocade Immortal lost their minds and blindly committed slaughter, most likely taking their own life in the process as well.
• Strength: It has exceedingly high physical strength, able to even throw Quan Yizhen a few feet in the air through a roof and destroy Jing Wen within a few seconds.

Trivia

• It has sucked the blood and thus killed over 500 humans when it roamed around in the mortal realm.
• It's referred to as "Immortal" because Bai Jing was supposed to ascend.
