Binu (鄙奴, Bǐnú) are creatures that were originally humans, but could not even achieve the Fierce rank when it came to strength.[1]

Description[]

"It had a head and a face, but they looked vague and unclear. They had legs and arms, but they were too weak to walk on. They had a mouth and teeth, but it would take them forever to bite someone to death."[1]

Binu have the appearance of deformed humans with an extremely weak and fragile physique, causing them to be very slow in any action. In the donghua they are depicted as sexless and scrawny beings, to the point their ribs and bones are clearly visible. Their skin looks rotten with a dark, dusty colour. They have disheveled, black hair, as well as glowing red eyes.[2]

They have no distinct personalities and all act the same, not seeming to be able to have any coherent thoughts or perform any intelligent behavior, as they make no effort to even defend themselves from attacks. Their only interest seems to be following targets around and trying to kill them. Binu don't have the ability to speak either, only growling and making noises.[2]

They work as a collective, usually traveling with other ghosts or monsters. While there is no direct cooperation between them individually, they appear in large groups and stick to their targets this way. After their prey is killed by other creatures, the Binu would devour the remains of the corpses.[1]

History[]

While Xie Lian, Fu Yao and Nan Feng were trying to lure the Ghost Bridegroom on Yu Jun Mountain, around a hundred Binu attacked the mock wedding procession. One of them tried to get into the sedan in which Xie Lian was sitting, but Nan Feng dragged it out. Xie Lian quickly sent Ruoye to break the necks of all creatures while telling Nan Feng and Fu Yao to get the helping mortals away.[1]

Abilities[]

  • Durability: While their strength is extremely low, they are very tenacious and hard to kill. Due to their resilience they are hard to get rid of and especially Heavenly Officials of the Middle Court struggle to withstand against them.[1]
  • Collective: Advancing in big crowds raises their collective strength and makes it easier for them to overwhelm prey. It's said that more than ten of them would already be a great nuisance to deal with.[1]

Trivia[]

  • They prefer to live in regions with lots of people.[1]
  • Fu Yao states that he hates these kinds of creatures the most.[1]
