Pei Xiu[]
Pei Xiu is a close childhood friend of Ban Yue. She met him at the border when they were little, and he is the only other child who paid her attention and kindness; thus, she became his subordinate and was loyal to him.
During Xie Lian's investigation of Banyue Pass, Pei Xiu tries to escape with her from the Sinner's Pit. After he is punished with exile, Pei Xiu tries to steal the pot Banyue is sealed in to protect her from Pei Ming. They care about each deeply. Once they reunite, they are almost always by each other's side. Ban Yue watches over him after he becomes extremely sick due to eating Xie Lian's food.
Kemo[]
Ban Yue once accompanied Kemo and his men on a mission to take out bandits in the desert. She helped them escape from a heavy wind storm afterward and dug out the fallen soldiers to respectfully lay their bodies out. From then on, Kemo believed Ban Yue was a good person and was extremely supportive of her. He protected her from the people badmouthing her and was one of the people who helped her achieve her status as Imperial Preceptor of the country.
After Ban Yue betrayed her country, however, Kemo turned extremely resentful toward her. For 200 years he chased Ban Yue and hung her up over the Sinner's Pit.[1] Later, he is determined to kill her.
Xie Lian[]
Xie Lian, who sometimes played with the orphans at the border, met Ban Yue after she lost her parents. She stole his cooking which had already spilled on the ground, and he noticed how starved she was. He took care of her, instructed her, and also helped her achieve her status as the Imperial Preceptor. To save Banyue, Xie Lian was trampled during a battle between Banyue and Yong'an. He was so heavily injured, that he was forced to fake his death.[2] Ban Yue believed him dead but continued to be inspired by his words, ultimately making the decision to betray the Banyue Kingdom in an effort to save the common people.[3]
Once they are reunited, Ban Yue continues to hold great respect for him, calling him "General Hua" as she had when she was alive, and Xie Lian in turn is very caring toward her.[2]
